fred’s Pharmacy Partners with Memphis Zoo to Raise Funds For New Exhibit
fred’s Pharmacy is partnering with the Memphis Zoo in an effort to raise money for the zoo’s latest exhibit, the Zambezi River Hippo Camp, through its annual Zoo Pals program.  Now through Aug. 6, fred’s Pharmacy customers in the greater Memphis area are encouraged to make a small donation to the Zoo Pals program while checking out. In return for their donation, customers will earn discounts on select fred’s Pharmacy products and admissions tickets to the zoo.
As an added bonus for consumers who make a donation to the Memphis Zoo, discounts on essential summertime products such as sunscreen, allergy medicine and charcoal for grilling out, will be provided to customers at the time of purchase.  fred’s customers will also receive $2 off admission to the Memphis Zoo for every donation made in single transaction.
· For every $1 donation to the Zoo Pals program, customers will receive a $1 off coupon for select Claritin® products.
· For every $5 donation to the Zoo Pals program, customers will receive a $2 off coupon for Banana Boat® Sunscreen.
· For every $10 donation, customers will receive a $3 off coupon for Kingsford® Charcoal.
“fred’s Pharmacy is thrilled to partner with the Memphis Zoo to raise money for the extraordinary new Zambezi River exhibit,”  said Tracy Herr, vice president of advertising, fred’s Inc. “The Memphis Zoo is a significant institution in this city, and we are proud to support its mission of preserving wildlife through conservation, education and research.”
Donations will be collected from 194 fred’s pharmacy company stores located within a 200-mile radius of the Memphis Zoo. Headquartered in Memphis, fred’s Pharmacy has partnered with the Memphis Zoo on several campaigns and fundraising initiatives for more than a decade.
Every dollar raised through the Zoo Pals program will help the Memphis Zoo offset the costs of opening the Zambezi River Hippo Camp. The new, four-acre exhibit is a tribute to the animals, culture and architecture of the Zambezi River Valley in Africa featuring hippos, Nile crocodiles, and spectacular viewing areas.
“We are very grateful for our partnership with fred’s.” said Matt Thompson, director of animal programs, Memphis Zoo. “Every dollar raised from fred’s will aid in compensating for the cost to the addition of the interactive Zambezi River Hippo Camp at the Memphis Zoo.”
