Hebrew 12: 29 Dear Father, who dwells in indescribable light,I want to love the Light. Your verdict is: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. They hate the light because they are afraid they will be exposed. As for me, Lord God, I come into your Light, to your Son, that my sinfulness can be exposed and expunged through him. Because I want to live by the truth, I come into your light, so that it may be clearly seen that my conversion, my conviction, and my conformity to Jesus have been wrought in you.
When all the counselors have spoken, the psychologist, religions and every facet of humanitarian assistance and knowledge, whether educational or experiential, Black or White, right or left, rich or poor, SIN is the root of all the issues that plagued society although we’ve choose colorful names as a form of identity which attempts to minimize that which is evil. “The issue is not whether people are good-intentioned and sincere in desiring things that God forbids. The issue is we all bear the sin of Adam, inheriting an unchosen moral deformity, an energy of opposition to God, a rebellion that bequeaths to us a sin nature -the original sin that distorts humanity, the actual sin that distracts humanity, and the indwelling sin that manipulates humanity that we cannot erase on our own terms and by our own hands.” (R. Butterfield)
If we would trace the ills of humanity down in any one individual we would find at the heart of every one that fits the description of humankind, its is sin and its fruits can be found the Holy Bible, 2 Timothy 3:1-9. Yet the title we’ve given of the following descriptions below is “Narcissism” inordinate fascination with oneself; excessive self love; vanity. Synonyms: self-centeredness, smugness, egocentrism. For which in some cases counseling, and medications is prescribed.
Psychoanalysis. erotic gratification derived from admiration of one’s own physical or mentalattributes, being a normal condition at the infantile level of personality development.
We look for answers and never satisfied. Then we attempt to find hope in religions and they are only false hopes, at its simplest form a lie dressed to look like truth to an eternal problem. “They are teachers who point to their teaching or show some particular way. In all of these, there emerges an instruction, a way of living. It is not Zoroaster to whom you turn. It is Zoroaster to whom you listen. It is not Buddha who delivers you; it is his Noble Truths that instruct you. It is not Mohammed who transforms you; it is the beauty of the Koran that woos you.
By contrast, Jesus did not only teach or expound His message. He was identical with His message. “In Him,” say the Scriptures, “dwelt the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” He did not just proclaim the truth. He said, “I am the truth.” He did not just show a way. He said, “I am the Way.” He did not just open up vistas. He said, “I am the door.” “I am the Good Shepherd.” “I am the resurrection and the life.” “I am the I AM.” In Him is not just an offer of life’s bread. He is the bread.
That is why being a Christian is not just a way of feeding and living. Following Christ begins with a way of relating and being.” (Ravi Zecharias) The issue is humanity refuses to believe Jesus Christ rose from the grave, is alive today, and whether His blood and love and resurrection makes any wit of difference.
“Secularization has led us to a loss of shame, generating evil even against those we love Pluralization has led us to a loss of reason, generating evil toward those we choose to hate Privatization has led us to loss of meaning, generating evil against ourselves…” Ravi Zacharias
Both hypocrisy and evil depend on lies. Hypocrisy is a lie in deeds rather than in words. And evil always uses lies to cover its oppressions. Only with truth can we stand up to deception and manipulation. For all who hate hypocrisy, care for justice and human dignity, and are prepared to fight evil, truth is the absolute requirement.
Just as Abraham was called to walk before the Lord, so are we called to follow the way of Jesus. Not just to believe the truth or to know and defend the truth, but to so live in truth that truth may be part of our innermost beings, that in some imperfect way we become people of truth. So let there be no uncertainty from this congress, as followers of Christ and as evangelicals. If we do not stand for truth, this congress might as well stop here. Shame on those western Christians who casually neglect or scornfully deny what our Lord declared, what the Scriptures defend, and what many brothers and sisters would rather die than deny: that Jesus is the way, thetruth, and the life.
So it was when the Lordship of Christ triumphed over the might of imperial Rome. But there are still other times when history and the gospel appear to collide but, in fact, the gospel speaks to the deepest dilemmas and the highest aspirations of the age, even to those which oppose it. So it is today with the concept of truth.
At first sight, the biblical view of truth is obscene to modern minds. It’s arrogant, it’s exclusive, it’s intolerant, it’s divisive, it’s judgmental, and it’s reactionary. But on a deeper look, the biblical view is profound, timely, and urgent for today, even for those who reject it. But obviously regardless of what the world thinks, we follow the one who is the way, the truth, and the life. We therefore worship and serve the God of truth, whose Word is truth, and who Himself is true and may be trusted because of his covenant faithfulness.
