FARM BURGER DEBUTS BLT BURGER AS NEWEST FIXTURE TO THOUGHTFULLY SOURCED MENU
Fast Casual Restaurant Group Offers Unique Twist On A Classic With New Blended Burger
Farm Burger, an Atlanta-based, farm-to-table burger chain serving grassfed, grass-finished beef, today launched its newest menu fixture, the BLT Burger.
An unconventional twist on the classic BLT sandwich, the BLT Burger features a blended grind of grass-finished beef and pasture-raised bacon, topped with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. Paired with Farm Burger’s house-made lemonade or a crisp shandy, the burger is the perfect late-summer addition.
Crafted by Farm Burger Executive Chef Cameron Thompson, the BLT Burger was initially conceived to create a market for a bacon ends surplus from one of Farm Burger’s regional partners, White Oak Pastures.
“At Farm Burger, we share a core mission with our farm partners to honor our people, the planet and the integrity of our ingredients,” said Thompson. “When White Oak Pastures reached out to us with an excess of bacon, our first priority was to create a need for it on our menu—both to support our partner and avoid the prospect of food waste. By incorporating bacon into our beef burger grind, we were able to create an innovative item unlike anything else on our menu. We piloted the BLT Burger in a couple of restaurants and decided to make it a permanent fixture, seeing how well it was received by guests. The new burger is just one example of how we put the Farm Burger mission into action, and we’re excited to roll it out systemwide.”
Founded in 2010, Farm Burger is a better burger restaurant group committed to leading the fast casual industry in forging a sustainable food future through ethical eating. At its 12 locations nationwide, Farm Burger crafts 100 percent grassfed, grass-finished beef burgers, dry-aged and ground fresh, as well as other menu items made with local and sustainably sourced ingredients.
“We’re always looking for opportunities to utilize what’s available on a seasonal or needs-driven basis, whether it’s our summer Peach Burger utilizing fresh Georgia peaches, or our Catfish Sandwich, made with an invasive species causing ecological issues in Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay,” Thompson said. “If Farm Burger is able to create a positive impact on its communities and the world at large—and if we can do that by serving creative menu items that spark a conversation—that’s a win for us.”
The BLT Burger is available at Farm Burger locations in Atlanta (excluding the Mercedes-Benz Stadium); Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee; Asheville, North Carolina; and Huntsville, Alabama.
