The Memphis Silver Star News, is the only weekly Memphis/Shelby County African American owned newspaper in the Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas Tri-State area. On March 17, 1986, the newspaper was established as a medium for the African-American community to re-ceive an alternative, non-biased view of news and events. The Memphis Silver Star News fo-cuses on news, issues and events that directly impact the quality of life in minority communi-ties. The paper is an essential link between educational, government, businesses, civic organi-zations and churches throughout Shelby County.
